There are great hikes throughout the park that are led by National Park Service rangers. These hikes are multiple day experiences that will take you and your family to famous areas such as Sunrise, Vogelsang, Merced Lake, May Lake and more. Many people want to hike the famous Yosemite Half Dome; however, this has become so popular that you will need to obtain a permit for this trip. You can get one of these permits directly from the Park Service. Many guide services can also help you get a permit.

    Guided Tours

There are also guided tours available from companies such as the Redwoods in Yosemite. These tours can let you explore the area, while gaining an insight into the history, wildlife, and natural habitats. You’ll be taken through these hikes by knowledgeable guides who can answer your questions about the area.

The guided tours available from the Redwoods have moderate elevation gains so that are moderate too easy in difficulty. This makes them hikes that can be enjoyed by just about anyone in good physical shape. These hikes usually last between two and four hours.

The Wawona Historic Swinging Bridge hike is a two-mile hike, moderate in difficulty, and can be completed in approximately two hours. You’ll meet up with other hikers at the Redwoods in Yosemite registration meeting and events center. The Wawona Meadow loop hike covers a little more than three miles in about 2-1/2 hours. The meeting place for this guided tour is at the trailhead, located just next to the Wawona Hotel. You can even take a tour that will combine both of these great hiking destinations.
